When you add an auction listing, you have the option to specify a First Bidder Discount (see the drop down box above for
the current
options). By specifying a First Bidder Discount, you can encourage
buyers to place a bid early and not wait to "snipe" the auction at
the last second.
When you choose one of the options, you item will have the
icon next
to it's Auction title listing and on it's View item
description page. This icon is visible to all users until 24 hours prior to the scheduled
closing time of the auction (if the buyer waits until the last day to
bid, they will not receive the discount). This icon always remains
visible to the seller and will be visible to the winning bidder after
the auction closes.
The only time a First Bidder Discount
offer can be selected is when the auctioneer creates the auction or when
they relist the auction.
First Bidder Discount Rules:
The first bid must be placed at least 24 hours before the item
is scheduled to end to qualify the discount.
The First Bidder Discount does not apply to items bought using
the Purchase Now option.
The first bidder receives the First Bidder Discount if they win
the auction, regardless if they have to bid again
The First Bidder Discount does apply to
reserve auctions, as long as their winning bid meets the reserve.
The First Bidder Discount icon
is
automatically removed 24 hours prior to the auction's scheduled closing.
Sellers can use the Bid History link on their item listing to
determine if the winning bidder qualifies for the First Bidder discount.
Buyers are responsible for claiming their discount if the seller
forgets to offer it in the end-of-auction payment terms.
