Non-paying Bidder

If you cannot complete your transaction because the winning bidder fails to pay in a timely fashion according to the terms of your auction listing, Children's Book'Market will refund your fees for that auction and take disciplinary action against the non-paying bidder (Bidders who don't pay for items they won will be banned from the site unless they can provide reason for the non-payment).

To apply for our fee refund, use the following procedure:

  • If you cannot get a response from the high bidder, attempt to contact them a second time using the email address provided in the End-of-Auction notification email, AND send them a message using the ChildrensBookMarket message system by clicking on their high bidder username in the auction listing.  Your email may be blocked by the spam filters on the buyer's internet provider, but they must be receiving email from the site or they would not have been able to register.
  • If you cannot contact them after these attempts, or if they fail to send a promised payment in a reasonable amount of time, or if they refuse to pay for any other reason, contact the administrator to initiate the non-paying bidder alert.  The administrator will send a warning to the high bidder to respond in five days or be banned from the site.  The administrator will also give you the buyer's address and phone number so you can contact them directly.
  • If the high bidder fails to meet the deadline, your fees will be refunded and their account will be disabled unless they can prove there was a legitimate reason for the delay in payment.  Any negative feedback left by the buyer will be removed.
  • Any dispute will be resolved by the Dispute Resolution Committee whose decisions will be binding.
