Jay Bushara graduated from Columbia University a long time ago. He worked in an ice cream kiosk in Spain, a horse trailer in New York and many other unsavory places in between. He wrote stories, he met a woman with better, more promising prospects, they married, got a dog. Then they had children, he forgot how to sleep, but mostly he learned: to cook, clean, shop and generally plan around emergencies, to play Stratego and Egyptian Rat Screw. He learned to like it, in fact he remains profoundly grateful – to his wife, her career and his own thwarted ambitions – for all of the benefits, and excuses, afforded a full time father.
He likes books, though mostly, if he is honest, the children’s variety. Among his other amateur interests are playing and watching basketball, running marathons, seeing small, imperfect movies and listening to small, imperfect bands. He lives with his wife, Leslie, and their twelve- and seven-year-old sons in New York City.
